Anyone who has had the chance to enjoy one or 30 of them can tell you that the conversation runs from stock market conditions to elections, to child day care, to hernias or the latest medical treatment necessary and everything in between. Dang, I guess I am starting to show my age! This year, it seems that talk in hunting camp amongst the guides focused on one thing: Mountain Lion Season!Oh, they are talking about the game they saw, opportunities gained and lost, but it seems to keep circling back to Mountain Lion season this year. Maybe it is because we have a new hounds man, John Blair, who was raised in Idaho and has many years of practical Idaho hound hunting experience, maybe it is because of the awesome spring and fall bear season we had with our new hounds man or maybe it is just that us guides like to hunt predators and we know that in Central Idaho the biggest impact on elk and deer populations comes from predators and weather and we can’t do anything about the weather! So, it seems, we all like to pursue predators!Regardless of the reason, we are all looking ahead to the upcoming lion season where hound use on lions opens November 9, 2026.We still have a few openings for our 26-27 Idaho Mountain Lion hunts where, depending on the dates, we can also pursue Bobcats and all other forms of predators including wolves and coyotes. So, if an Idaho backcountry Mountain Lion hunt has ever been on your bucket list, contact us and let’s get you on the schedule!
